Recital Information
Our annual recital takes place in June and celebrates the progress, dedication, and accomplishments of our dancers. Students will showcase the technique and routines they have learned throughout the season through exciting music, costumes, and choreography. We look forward to seeing every dancer shine on stage!
The recital date and additional details will be shared in our newsletter and by email as soon as they become available.
Studio Calendar and Cancellations
Our dance season runs from September through June. Westbrook Dance Academy follows its own studio calendar, which is available in the parent portal and included in our newsletters. Please refer to this calendar when planning for classes and studio closures.
The studio will be closed for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, and Memorial Day. Weather-related cancellations will be announced on WTNH News 8 and NBC Connecticut (NBC30).
All classes are supported by an online learning platform. When necessary, classes may temporarily move online until in-studio instruction can resume.
Dress Code
Proper dance attire helps students move safely and allows instructors to assess alignment and technique. Students should arrive dressed appropriately for each class, with the required dance shoes.
Please review the complete dress code in the parent portal for class-specific requirements.
Attendance and Punctuality
Consistent attendance and arriving on time help students build their skills, learn choreography, and get the most from each class. Repeated absences or late arrivals can interrupt learning for both the dancer and their classmates.
Please call the studio or notify the instructor if your dancer will be absent or late. If your dancer needs to leave class early, please inform the instructor in advance.
Class Placement
We want every dancer to be in a class where they feel supported, appropriately challenged, and ready to grow. Age and previous dance experience provide an initial guide for placement, while individual ability and readiness help us determine the best fit.
Class placement is at the discretion of Westbrook Dance Academy. Once classes begin, instructors may recommend a placement change after assessing a student’s skills.
Early registration is encouraged, as class sizes are limited and enrollment closes when a class is full. Maximum enrollment varies by class. If you are unsure which class to choose, please contact us to discuss the available options or arrange to try a class.
Studio Reminders
To help keep our studio safe, organized, and welcoming, please observe the following:
Students may leave the studio only when accompanied by a parent or designated adult.
Students should arrive no more than five minutes before class and be picked up no later than five minutes after class.
Clearly label all dance shoes, equipment, and personal belongings with your dancer’s name. Westbrook Dance Academy is not responsible for personal belongings.
Only bottled water is permitted in the dance studios. Food, gum, candy, and other drinks are not allowed.
