At Westbrook Dance Academy, we offer a wide variety of classes for dancers of all ages, abilities, and experience levels. Through fun, exciting, and challenging instruction, students build a strong foundation in technique, terminology, musicality, and performance. Our goal is to provide a well-rounded dance education that encourages creativity, discipline, confidence, and a lifelong love of dance while inspiring every dancer to reach their full potential both on and off the dance floor.
 
Whether your child is taking their very first class or continuing advanced training, there is a place for them at Westbrook Dance Academy. Along the way, dancers develop lasting friendships, strengthen their skills, and gain the confidence to shine in the studio, onstage and off stage.

early childhood

Ballet/Tap Class

AGES 2–6 • 1 HOUR

Classes are further broken down into two age groups – ages 2-4 and ages 5-6

This class is designed to introduce and develop the fundamentals of Ballet and Tap technique. Through fun, age-appropriate activities, dancers strengthen their imagination, coordination, musicality, and social skills. Students also build confidence while learning to follow directions and work together in a a positive classroom environment. Two dances will be performed in our spring performance.

hip-hop

Age 4-7 - 45 Minutes Weekly

Hip-Hop: Hip-Hop is a fast paced upbeat class using the latest and hottest dance moves such as poppin’, locking, breaking as well as freestyle movement. Hip Hop is fast and fun dance class.

acro

Age 4-7 - 45 Minutes Weekly

Acro combines basic tumbling skills with dance training without using gymnastics equipment. With mats, students safely improve their flexibility, timing, coordination, strength, and confidence.

Ballet/Tap/Jazz

AGES 6–8 • 1½ HOURS WEEKLY
AGES 8–10 • 2 HOURS WEEKLY


This class builds on Ballet and Tap by introducing Jazz. Students strengthen their technique, flexibility, and confidence while preparing three exciting routines for the annual spring performance.

hip-hop

I-V – 1 Hour Weekly

Hip-Hop: Hip-Hop is a fast paced upbeat class using the latest and hottest dance moves such as poppin’, locking, breaking as well as freestyle movement. Hip Hop is fast and fun dance class.

acro

I-V – 1 Hour Weekly

Acro combines basic tumbling skills with dance training without using gymnastics equipment. With mats, students safely improve their flexibility, timing, coordination, strength, and confidence.

musical theater

II-V – 1 Hour Weekly

Musical Theater combines acting, dance, and musicality to bring stories to life. Students build confidence through expressive routines, fresh choreography, and Broadway classics such as A Chorus Line and Hairspray.

Lyrical

II-V – 1 Hour Weekly

Lyrical blends Ballet, Jazz, Modern, and Contemporary to tell stories through expressive movement. Students develop technique, strength, flexibility, and control while learning to express emotion through music.

pointe

III-V – 1 Hour Weekly

Pointe advances ballet technique for dancers ages 11 and older who have developed the necessary leg and foot strength. Students must continue taking their regular ballet class while enrolled in Pointe.

TAP

III-V – 1 Hour Weekly

Tap develops rhythm, timing, and musicality through percussive technique, vocabulary, history, and varied styles. Musical Theater elements are incorporated, and students are encouraged to also take Jazz or Ballet.

III-V – 1 Hour Weekly

Jazz will improve a student’s flexibility, strength and coordination using different styles of Jazz (Theater and Broadway) with a variety of music. This is a fast paced class that will develop endurance and rhythm.

ballet

III-V – 1.25 Hours Weekly

Ballet is the foundation for all dance training. It is highly recommended for all students. Students will learn proper alignment of the body, strength, flexibility, vocabulary, technique and grace.
